THE DETAILS

Register: Make sure you register online before the camp to reserve your spot.

Come Ready: Get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, and drink plenty of water.

ALL Positions: Check-in begins at 8:30 AM.

Suit Up: Athletes will receive a USMC Sports Leadership Academy shirt. You will be responsible to bring all other equipment such as shoes, socks, shorts, etc.

Be on Time!

Skills and Drills: Our elite coaching staff will lead you through drills that will help develop skills, increase agility, improve techniques, and help you become a better wrestler.

Live Wrestling: Compete against the best wrestlers from your area.

Leadership Training: The Marine Corps Leadership Traits will be taught during breakout sessions that focus on how sports skills learned relate to real world challenges.

FREE Lunch: All athletes will receive a free catered lunch from USMC Sports.

Awards Ceremony: Awards will be presented to the top performers and top leaders at the conclusion of the camp. All athletes and family members are encouraged to attend and take photos.

Meet the Coaches

Marques Gales – Head Coach

Coach Bio:

Marques Gales is currently the Head Wrestling Coach at Sacramento City College. In his two seasons with Sac. City, the team has finished top-4 in the state and won the BIG 8 Conference Championship both times. He has coached a Junior College State Champion, 7 Junior College All-Americans, 12 Academic All-Americans, and 15 state-placers. He also works as an assistant professor of kinesiology at Sac. City.

Prior to Sac. City, Gales was the Head Wrestling Coach at Trinity College, an NCAA Division 3 school located in Hartford, CT. While at Trinity, Gales coached three NCAA Tournament qualifiers, 6 Academic All-Americans, and was voted  the NCAA Division 3 Rookie Coach of the year in 2014. Before taking over the reins at Trinity, Glaes was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Springfield College in Massachusetts. At Springfield, he helped lead a tea, tp a top-8 National finish, coached a National Champion, and 7 NCAA All-Americans. Gales also reveived his Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology while at Springfield.

As a collegiate wrestler, Gales was an NCAA Division 2 National qualifier and Academic All-American for San Francisco State University. Before transferring to SF State, he was a two-time Junior College state placer and Axademic All-American. He is a native of Fairfield, CA and attended Armijo High School, where he was a MEL Champion and Masters qualifier.
